I need someone to explain how integrated graphics works...?

ok so im trying to build a low performance computer for a family member, but i have never built one without a graphics card and ive always been aware of "integrated" graphics chips, so i have found a motherboard with an intel integrated graphics chip but does the CPU matter? i just have a strange feeling on getting "just any" CPU that fits into the socket, its a LGA 775 so will ANY socket LGA 775 CPU do the trick or do i need to look for specific processors?
