Did my water actually break?

I am 37 weeks pregnant, 2 days ago I felt a tiny pop and a gush of fluid as if my water had broken. I had no urge nor did I feel like I had to urinate. I was absolutely positive it was my water breaking. At the hospital I was told my water had NOT broke. I am concerned that my water did in fact break and they just missed it. Is this possible? Has anyone had anything like this happen to them?
